シュミーデアイゼンとはドイツ語で「鍛えられた鉄」という意味です。
昔ながらの鍛造製法で、熱した鉄を叩き、のばしてフライパンに仕上げています。
すべてが鉄でできているのでずっしりとした重量感があり、とても強靭で焚き火や薪ストーブで使うこともできます。
優れた熱伝導と抜群の熱保持力をもち、さらに表面には網目状の溝がついているので油や肉汁を流れやすくして料理の焦げ付きを抑えます。
